Long Beach approves 304,000 SF Cherry Ave warehouse
Long Beach planners approved Link Logistics' 304,000 SF speculative warehouse on 14.19 acres at 5910 Cherry Ave in July 2024, with a City Council vote to follow.

What's happening
The Long Beach Planning Commission voted 3-1 on July 18, 2024, to approve Link Logistics Real Estate's 304,000 square foot speculative warehouse at 5910 Cherry Avenue in North Long Beach. The site covers 14.19 acres and was bought by Link Logistics in 2022 for $50.7 million. The approval included rezoning the property from heavy to light industrial.
This is the developer's second attempt. A 303,000 square foot plan was approved in October 2022 but withdrawn in April 2023 after appeals from residents. The revised project adds 2.6 megawatts of solar, EV charging, landscaping and a 12-foot noise barrier. The developer projects about 500 permanent jobs and 120 construction jobs. The Long Beach Post reported a City Council vote was expected afterward.
- Size: 304,000 SF on 14.19 acres
- Developer: Link Logistics Real Estate
- Location: 5910 Cherry Ave, North Long Beach, Los Angeles County
- Status/Timing: Planning Commission approval July 2024; City Council review to follow
- Jobs: About 500 permanent, 120 construction (developer estimates)
What it means for owners, tenants and investors
Infill warehouse sites near the ports are scarce, and a modern 304,000 square foot building would compete for port-linked logistics tenants. Neighborhood opposition over truck traffic has already stalled one version of the project, so entitlement risk remains part of the picture for this and similar sites.
The project's fate rests on whether the revised plan holds up against the community opposition that sank the 2022 version.
What to watch
The City Council decision, any appeals or litigation, and a construction start.
